Happy September!
We're back from Alaska, nobody drowned, the kids are in school, Labor Day is over, we're all done having the stomach flu... and I have a SCHEDULE again.
Hallelujah!
Alaska was marvelous -- I have lots of pictures I have to figure out how to transfer -- and I just found out I also have the new cover of HOWLING AT THE MOON. (Since I found it on the Random House site, I figured it was public knowledge now.) I think it's gorgeous -- it's always amazing to see what the artists come up with, and I think this one is fabulous. It gives me chills to see it in print! (Although Sophie is definitely rather different from Natalie, don't you think?)
At any rate, how are you? If I've missed your e-mail in the past few weeks, I'm working through them -- feel free to drop me a reminder. I just posted on Cozy Chicks about what I've been doing other than writing, although for the next six weeks, writing is going to be at the top of the list (next deadline Oct. 15 -- yikes).
Cheers, and happy end-of-summer!
Karen

Good to see you back! Somehow I missed that you were in Alaska and sent you an email, which you can disregard - sorry to bother! Glad you're home safely, and that you're back on schedule!
Stomach flu?? I'm sorry to hear that! I'm glad you're done with that at least.
So is that the cover you were talking about? Very cool, and very slick! Awesome. Although, yes, I get quite a different impression of Sophie than I do of Natalie. :)
Christa,
I found that e-mail; sorry about that!
How's your life these days?
Hugs,
K
John,
No kidding. And yes, that's the cover I was talking about. And Sophie is a different animal from Natalie, so to speak.
Hope your move is progressing well!
I agree, Karen. It's a great cover. Would definitely make a book browser want to pick it up.
Welcome back, Karen. And yes, that's a wonderful cover. I can't wait now to read the book. Enjoy your new "year," now that you're back on schedule.

Cannot wait till your newest work comes out. Seems like yesterday you were just sending material out on that book.
Anyway, the cold hit here. Mom and I got bitten, and I had to miss a day of work. Other than that, I'm good.
Congrats on your #1 listing for the Austin American Statesman local book sales. Way to go.

Thanks, Judy. Glad you like it... even though it is a tad different. Should be finishing up #2 any day now... wish me luck!
Helen,
From your lips to God's ears, as a friend of mine says. :)
Kendra,
Oh, no! Hope you're feeling better. Ian's school just sent an info sheet on meningitis today.
Am trying not to think about it.
Dana,
Thanks a ton... what a pleasant surprise! (Of course, if my mother-in-law and my friend Jim hadn't e-mailed me, I never would have known.)
Karen,
I'm well - finally. And I'm making progress on the work front. Now to get the writing front in line.
There are shots for that. I had to get mine before starting at UT. If nothing else, demand to get it if it's a huge concern. Things like this are yet another argument for homeschooling; you reduce the medical costs per year. But I digress...
Hope to speak with you soon. I'd love to run some ideas by you. I'm actually working on three book ideas - and I may wind up helping my new employer write one to support his non-profit mission.
BTW, I adore the cover. Finally got to see it thanks to my new computer. (Now to pay the bill when it comes in...)
