And we're off...

I'm stealing a few quick minutes to check in (need to get as much bookwriting in as possible today, followed by finishing packing... what fun!).

We're off to Houston today, and three long flights to Alaska tomorrow. Abby is back from camp, and anxious to return next year. Right now, I'm playing hooky from my house, sitting in a Starbucks next to two German women who are looking at a stack of photos and talking (in German) about how ugly someone is. (It's fun -- I still remember it, and don't even have to think about it. Like riding a bike, I guess.)

At any rate, I hope you all have a wonderful week. I just got a huge edit from my agent two days ago and have been working like a madwoman to get through it. Why does this always happen just before vacation?

Cheers for now, and more when I get back! (I did pack the camera, and hopefully will remember to use it.)

Hi, I just read that you are in Alaska. I live in Big Lake, Alaska
about 60 miles outside of Anchorage. I just finished reading Dead and Berried and loved it just as much as Murder on the Rocks. I hope you have alot more in store for Natalie.
I look forward to a long line of Gray Whale Inn Mysteries.(No Pressure!)
Well, I hope you love Alaska although it is raining right now, we do have beautiful days too.
Catch lots of fish!

Hi Karen,
I just got back from NY (short vacation)-- and caught up on my emails,etc--and decided to quickly check your blog. I don't know how you can do all that you do-what with traveling, mothering, baking, and writing... And that new picture of you is just beautiful. I love the color of your hair.
I enjoy reading the letters from your other fans too-- especially Grace's mom. If you're reading this, Melissa, I just have to tell you that you're so funny!
Well, Karen, have a wonderful time in Alaska. You'll have to tell us all about it. And I hope you'll have time to do the writing/ editing that you mentioned was high on your list of things to do!

Aimee,

Alaska is just gorgeous -- I'm jealous, and just finished the book If You Lived Here, I'd Know Your Name by Heather Lende (lives in Haines).

And I'm so glad you enjoyed the GWI -- I'm looking forward to getting back there myself, so never fear.

The weather was gorgeous and we caught tons of fish.

You live in a lovely place!

Judy,
Thanks for checking in -- and thanks for the sweet comment on the photo!

To be honest, juggling it all is turning out to be a bit of a challenge, and deadlines are breathing down my neck, so I probably won't be blogging as regularly. I tend to go all-out for a while, then just power down to recharge. One of these days I hope to learn moderation. ;)

How's your writing going?

P.S. I did one day of writing and nothing else workwise in Alaska -- felt fabulous.

Helen, it was.

Hope our paths cross again soon -- and that your writing's going great!

Kendra,

Like I said, FAB article -- and I will put the link on the web update that I hope to accomplish, along with finishing my (extended) taxes and my current WIP, in the next few weeks.

Thanks again, and I look forward to seeing you again!

Dani,

The trip was rejuvenating, and taking a few weeks to get my kids on an even keel (and really spend some time with them) was a good move. Now it's back to the schedule again, which is also good.

Juggle, juggle, juggle. :)
